We investigate how customers respond to an opaque airline product offered by a European carrier. In this opaque product design, customers are randomly assigned to travel to one of approximately ten destinations; however, for a fee they may exclude one or more destinations from the choice set (or a particular package design) prior to learning which destination they will travel to. We use a multidimensional binary logit model to predict the probability that one or more alternatives will be chosen by a customer. Results show that customers are more likely to pay to exclude destinations located close to the origin airport and destinations that speak the same language as the origin airport. Length of stay, cost of living at the destination, and measures of destination attractiveness are also found to be significant predictors for some package designs. Based on these findings, we offer general recommendations for how to design opaque packages for airline customers. 相似文献

The core is a vital concept in cooperative game theory and has been widely used in analyzing alliance’s stability. It is especially interesting to apply core theory in liner shipping market due to the latter’s exceptional characteristic of non-homogeneous cost curves as well as divisible and fluctuant demand. Having observed some new phenomena and trends in the industry, this paper studies the economic performance and stability of liner shipping alliance by applying core theory where business cooperation is partly realized by delivering joint-service with mega container ships. To demonstrate the core situation in liner shipping alliance, a cost function is first identified on the basis of two assumptions regarding cooperation: 1) sharing or pooling vessels and 2) deploying mega container ships if needed. Taking cost functions as basis, two conditions of approaching core may be groomed, i.e., collective rationality and individual rationality. The first condition is discussed from the perspective of market, while the second condition is studied within the alliance. Stability of liner shipping alliance is then observed based on these two conditions. An illustrative case study is conducted in order to show some implications and explicitly clarify the theory. 相似文献

研究目的:玉蒙铁路秀山隧道受云南特殊地质构造影响和异常活跃的地壳运动作用,溶蚀管道与宽大裂隙发育,岩溶水、构造裂隙水相互混杂并形成复杂的地下水网络系统。通过对隧址区域工程地质与水文地质条件以及施工开挖揭示的洞身涌水特征进行系统分析研究,查清隧道涌水来源及其与杞麓湖的水力联系。研究结论:(1)通过对隧道洞身涌水量最大段落进行综合分析及水样同位素测试,表明地下水来源于隧址区接受的大气降水;(2)杞麓湖湖水与隧址区地下水在来源上存在明显差异,隧道涌水与湖水联系较弱;(3)隧道穿越曲江、杞麓湖两个水文地质单元,施工至不同洞段水文地质特征表现出较大的差异性;(4)本文研究结论可为同类地质环境隧道工程勘察设计施工提供参考借鉴。 相似文献

Risk analysis in seaports plays an increasingly important role in ensuring port operation reliability, maritime transportation safety and supply chain distribution resilience. However, the task is not straightforward given the challenges, including that port safety is affected by multiple factors related to design, installation, operation and maintenance and that traditional risk assessment methods such as quantitative risk analysis cannot sufficiently address uncertainty in failure data. This paper develops an advanced Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) approach through incorporating Fuzzy Rule-Based Bayesian Networks (FRBN) to evaluate the criticality of the hazardous events (HEs) in a container terminal. The rational use of the Degrees of Belief (DoB) in a fuzzy rule base (FRB) facilitates the implementation of the new method in Container Terminal Risk Evaluation (CTRE) in practice. Compared to conventional FMEA methods, the new approach integrates FRB and BN in a complementary manner, in which the former provides a realistic and flexible way to describe input failure information while the latter allows easy updating of risk estimation results and facilitates real-time safety evaluation and dynamic risk-based decision support in container terminals. The proposed approach can also be tailored for wider application in other engineering and management systems, especially when instant risk ranking is required by the stakeholders to measure, predict and improve their system safety and reliability performance. 相似文献

为解决传统物探方法在城市盾构隧道工程中难以对地层扰动达到较好探测和监测目的,提出了主动源瑞利面波椭圆极化方法. 采用二维有限元数值模拟对实际盾构隧道施工背景下的地层情况进行全波场正演模拟,并对其波场传播、速度频散和椭圆极化频散等特征进行分析;结合工程实例,进一步将椭圆极化方法和传统速度频散方法进行对比研究. 研究结果表明:主动源瑞利面波椭圆极化方法在探测地下介质结构分布及监测地下空洞等异常结构的变化方面具有和传统速度频散方法同样的探测效果,但由于其不需要长大检波器排列,对周围环境震动等噪声抗干扰能力相对较强,因此更适合城市等场地受限和具有一定震动和噪声干扰的环境,从而具有更广阔的应用前景. 相似文献
