There has been recent interest in a new engine type, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI), to combine the advantages
of SI and CI engines. In this paper, a locally deterministic approach is employed to consider spatial inhomogeneities using
the KIVA-CHEMKIN package. Validation is performed for two experimental HCCI engines fueled, respectively, by hydrogen and
n-heptane. The full mechanism for hydrogen and a skeletal mechanism for n-heptane are used for combustion chemistry. Differences
in the reaction flow paths are shown at ignition and the heat release reaction stages of the two fuels. Results show good
agreement between measured and calculated pressures for different initial mixture temperatures with estimated residual fractions.
A parametric study is performed in both engines to consider the influences of the physical parameters wall temperature, swirl
ratio and global equivalence ratio. The ignition time of n-heptane is shown to be relatively insensitive to variations in
these parametric due to its two-stage ignition behavior. 相似文献

This article presents a nonlinear time-domain simulation method for the prediction of large-amplitude motions of a Ro–Ro
ship in regular oblique waves in an intact and a damaged condition. Numerical computations and model tests have been carried
out to investigate the dynamic motion responses of Ro–Ro ship Dextra to various wave amplitudes at three different wave headings. The results of numerical and experimental investigations for
stern quartering waves are reviewed. Comparisons between predictions and measurements show good agreement except in the roll-resonant
region. Nonlinear effects are significant in horizontal modes of motion, and resonant roll motion, and there is strong coupling
between all modes of motion in the roll-resonant region for large-amplitude responses. On the other hand, the time-domain
simulation technique suffers from numerical drift in horizontal modes of motion as wave amplitude increases. This is due to
nonlinear equations of motion and the lack of a restoring force and moment in horizontal motion.

In this paper the vertical load-deflection behaviour of a pneumatic tire has been studied theoretically. A simple mathematical model which is especially suitable for a tire applied by a side force has been developed. Researches carried out in the past show that the tire vertical stiffness varies neither proportionally nor symmetrically as the slip angle of a cambered tire is changed. This effect can be explained by the theory developed here.
The model predictions have been verified using experimental results obtained from literature. Moreover, tire cornering characteristic curves obtained under different test conditions, i. e. during increasing of the slip angle the vertical load is kept constant or not, have been discussed through a simulation example. This study proposes a steering control method to improve motorcycle handling and stability. Steer-by-wire (SBW) technology is applied to the motorcycle's steering system to remove characteristic difficulties of vehicle maneuvers. By examining computer simulation using a simplified motorcycle model, the actual rolling angle of the SBW motorcycle is controlled to follow the desired rolling angle intended by the rider. A state feedback control such as linear quadratic control gives the SBW vehicle a good follow-through performance compared with proportional-derivative control because it can decouple rolling motion from the other motions, which affect the rolling motion in the strongly coupled motorcycle system. 相似文献

When soot particles are loaded in a diesel particulate filter, it causes increase in back pressure of the exhaust system.
To minimize this pressure drop due to DPF, the filter needs to be regenerated after a certain amount of soot has been accumulated.
It is crucial to estimate the correct amount of soot that has been accumulated by measuring the differential pressure. It
is also important to understand changes in pressure drop due to flow rate variations of the exhaust gas, since the pressure
drop would be influenced by the exhaust flow rate as well as the amount of soot. Furthermore, the heat transfer characteristics
of the catalyzed diesel particulate filter (CDPF) are another major issue, as the filter is occasionally exposed to high temperature
gas. This study presents the characteristics of pressure drop according to the variation of soot loading and the mass flow
rate in CDPF. In addition, heat transfer characteristics in the filter was investigated when a high temperature gas flows
into the CDPF. Tests were performed in several CDPF samples having varying amounts of catalyst coating. Experimental results
indicate that rig-based experiments are useful in understanding the characteristics of pressure drop in the CDPF. In the cake
filtration region, a pressure drop has a proportional relationship according to soot loading and mass flow rate. It was found
that an increased catalyst coating may lead to enhanced convective heat transfer. 相似文献

The relationship between voltage and current inside a battery, or the impedance, plays an important role in the simulation
and design of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) power systems. This paper proposes a new approach employing the Bode plot for
evaluation of equivalent circuit parameters for a lithium polymer battery (LiPB) for HEV application. The main concept of
the proposed circuit-parameter-based model approach is the application of a transfer function used to process the frequency
response of the battery for calculation of accurate circuit parameters. Additionally, the Bode plot is also applied to derive
the impedance-based model directly from frequency response measurements for short time simulations and practical use in the
HEV. Two methods for battery modeling are proposed and verified experimentally with the voltage-current profile of a conventional
HEV using the battery measured in this paper. The results show that the proposed circuit-parameter-based technique provides
a satisfactory battery equivalent circuit model. 相似文献
