The use of multi-agent systems to model and to simulate real systems consisting of intelligent entities capable of autonomously co-operating with each other has emerged as an important field of research. This has been applied to a variety of areas, such as social sciences, engineering, and mathematical and physical theories. In this work, we address the complex task of modelling drivers’ behaviour through the use of agent-based techniques. Contemporary traffic systems have experienced considerable changes in the last few years, and the rapid growth of urban areas has challenged scientific and technical communities. Influencing drivers’ behaviour appears as an alternative to traditional approaches to cope with the potential problem of traffic congestion, such as the physical modification of road infrastructures and the improvement of control systems. It arises as one of the underlying ideas of intelligent transportation systems. In order to offer a good means to evaluate the impact that exogenous information may exert on drivers’ decision making, we propose an extension to an existing microscopic simulation model called Dynamic Route Assignment Combining User Learning and microsimulAtion (DRACULA). In this extension, the traffic domain is viewed as a multi-agent world and drivers are endowed with mental attitudes, which allow rational decisions about route choice and departure time. This work is divided into two main parts. The first part describes the original DRACULA framework and the extension proposed to support our agent-based traffic model. The second part is concerned with the reasoning mechanism of drivers modelled by means of a Beliefs, Desires, and Intentions (BDI) architecture. In this part, we use AgentSpeak(L) to specify commuter scenarios and special emphasis is given to departure time and route choices. This paper contributes in that respect by showing a practical way of representing and assessing drivers’ behaviour and the adequacy of using AgentSpeak(L) as a modelling language, as it provides clear and elegant specifications of BDI agents.  相似文献

This work reports on experiments carried out on a real passenger vehicle in a large wind tunnel to investigate the effects of car inclination on underhood cooling. The vehicle??s underhood is instrumented by thermocouples that measure the temperatures of many underhood components during different car functioning modes. Measurements are carried out for three thermal functioning points at car speeds 90, 110 and 130 km/h. In these experiments the engine was in operation and the front wheels positioned on the test facility with power-absorption-controlled rollers. Three car inclinations are investigated: flat, uphill and downhill. The results show that car inclination, even if very small, can have significant effects on underhood cooling and must be taken into consideration in numerical simulations and controlled in experimental tests. It was shown that down-hill and up-hill inclinations increase temperatures of components, air zones and engine parameters in the underhood, with higher effect for the down-hill inclination. Temperature increases in constant-speed driving phase are higher than in thermal soak phase.  相似文献

The results on the distribution of phytoplankton biomass (expressed as Chla) and primary production (14C assimilation), during three oceanographic cruises carried out during Austral spring and at the end of the summer and the autumn in the Straits of Magellan, suggest a strong variability of trophic levels for this ecosystem.Seasonal evolution of the biomass concentration goes from the spring maximum of 2.33 μg/l through a sharp decrease, 0.49 μg/l, observed at the end of summer, until the minimum of 0.24 μg/l measured during the autumn.The trophic conditions are dependent on hydrographic, meteo-climatic and geo-morphological characteristics: at the Atlantic entrance and between the two Angosturas the strong mixing of water column limit the development of phytoplankton; at the Western opening and along the Pacific arm the complex exchange mechanisms with the ocean, the glacio-fluvial contribution and the presence of a thermohaline front near the Isla Carlos III influence both biomass and primary production distributions. The maximum values are reached in the Central Zone (Paso Ancho) characterized by high stability of the water column.Primary production ranged from a minimum of 12.3 to a maximum of 125.9 mgC m−2 h−1. The overall trend seems to be a progressive and simultaneous increase from the Pacific and Atlantic openings to the Central Zone of Paso Ancho where the maximum value was reached. In general, biomass and primary production distributions correspond quite well except for the area of Isla Carlos III where biological and chemico-physical causes tend to limit 14C assimilation.Contribution of pico-phytoplankton (< 2 μm) to total biomass appears to be time dependent: in the blooms observed during spring a very modest incidence (< 6%) was observed whereas became more (> 50%) during the summer-autumn seasons when total biomass was decreasing.Within the Straits, at the end of summer, the contribution of pico-phytoplankton primary production is 59%, whereas nano and microplankton contribute 39% and 2%, respectively. At the oceanic external stations the photosynthetic activity of the bigger size-fraction (> 2 μm) is predominant (> 50%).These findings support the hypothesis that the pico-phytoplankton ( < 2 μm) is substantially constant, whereas temporal variations are due to the larger (> 10 μm) cells only.  相似文献

The multinomial probit model is a statistical tool that is well suited to analyze some transportation problems. Modal split, gap acceptance, and route choice are some examples of application contexts. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of its statistical properties and an estimation method for the trinomial case. In the statistical part of the paper it is shown that for multinomial probit models with specifications that are linear in the parameters, the global maximum of the log-likelihood function is consistent if the data do not exhibit multicollinearity as defined in the text. For the special case with three alternatives, lack of multicollinearity is also shown to guarantee asymptotic efficiency and normality, and the uniqueness of any root of the likelihood equations. In addition, it is also shown that for the trinomial probit model certain goodness-of-it measures and test statistics can be easily calculated. The methods part of the paper introduces an estimation process that solves the likelihood equations using a special purpose table of the bivariate normal distribution and analytical derivatives of the log-likelihood function. The method is very accurate, can be applied to nonlinear specifications, and is considerably faster than current computer programs. For linear specifications, the method can be mathematically proven to converge if the log-likelihood equations have a root.  相似文献

Deterministic approximations for elevator trip times are applied to a system of m elevators. Comparisons of in-system time of passengers are made for elevators which are (a) physically separated, (b) ideally controlled, (c) zoned, or (d) uncontrolled. A more detailed study is then made of in-system passenger time for a pair of elevators subject to a minimum headway control at the lobby. Comparisons are made between rather primitive analytic estimates and simulation results.The main conclusion is that control of headways so as to prevent pairing is of doubtful value. At low traffic it is usually better to use no control; for higher traffic it is better to zone the building and have each elevator serve separate floors.  相似文献

This paper describes how a Geographic Information System (GIS) is being used to help estimate multi-class truck flows in an urban setting. Emphasis is placed on the reasons why this approach is valuable, the specific GIS tools and techniques employed, the value added by employing a GIS-based approach, and the results being obtained. Transportation congestion is reaching intolerable levels in many urban and suburban areas in the US. Reliance upon traditional responses, such as transit and new highway capacity, is not working — especially in suburban areas. Although methods for dealing with suburban congestion are often different, there are a number of common features that must be considered in developing short term as well as more permanent and long lasting solutions. In proposing short term solutions, a Menu of Actions is described. It includes transportation actions (the traditional transit and transportation management options) where there are opportunities for getting more out of the existing systems; land use/growth management actions which will result in more rational land use-transportation interactions; financial incentives, to encourage or discourage appropriate actions; more comprehensive and systematic land use and transportation planning; and the organizational and institutional actions required to implement rational solutions.While the Manu of Actions provides a broad array of possible actions to provide relief in the short run, over time the growth in traffic is likely to outpace their effectiveness. Consequently, longer term and often more difficult solutions must be considered and implemented as appropriate. They could include changes in land use development and land use management policies; changes in lifestyle and business practices; improvements through technological innovation; changes in the traditional ways of providing transportation services; and greatly expanded research and development.  相似文献
