Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) utilize electric power and a mechanical engine for propulsion; therefore, the performance of HEVs is directly influenced by the characteristics of the energy storage system (ESS). The ESS for an HEV generally requires high power performance, long cycle life, reliability and cost effectiveness; thus, a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) that combines different types of storage devices has been considered to fulfill both performance and cost requirements. To improve the operating efficiency and cycle life of a HESS, an advanced dynamic control regime in which pertinent storage devices in the HESS can be selectively operated based on their status is presented. Verification tests were performed to confirm the degree of improvement in energy efficiency. In this paper, an advanced HESS with a battery management system (BMS) that includes an optimal switching control function based on the estimated state of charge (SOC) is presented and verified.  相似文献

This study investigates the disparities in access to various types of opportunities in ethnic neighborhoods, as compared to wealthy white neighborhoods (the reference). Focusing on the heterogeneity within ethnic neighborhoods, I distinguish between different types of neighborhoods based on their racial/ethnic makeup and median household income. The Los Angeles region provides an interesting empirical setting because of its racial diversity and its auto-centric spatial structure. The results show that the various types of ethnic neighborhoods differ not only in spatial patterns within the region but also in terms of relative access to opportunities. Nevertheless, I find that all types of the low-income ethnic neighborhoods have higher levels of access to jobs and non-work opportunities, except for access to parks/open spaces, than do the reference neighborhoods. This holds true regardless of accessibility measures and travel modes. However, the relative access to opportunities for middle-to-high-income ethnic neighborhoods varies by accessibility measure. Considering that each accessibility measure has its own set of meanings and planning implications, diverse measures should be taken into account for policy interventions. The present study also adds further evidence of modal disparities, which are much greater than spatial disparities, in access to opportunities.

This paper aims to analyze the charter contract management of major container shipping companies in response to fluctuations in shipping market conditions in terms of contract duration using data of containerships between 2010 and 2016. Duration analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between charter duration and shipping market conditions. Moreover, this paper explores the causes of Hanjin Shipping Company’s bankruptcy, drawing managerial implications. Test results from Cox PH (Proportional Hazard) model show that most container shipping companies in Europe having net earnings purchased large vessels instead of chartering vessels, while some ocean carriers featuring poor financial performance, in particular the Hanjin Shipping Company, chartered bigger ships with higher charter rates and longer duration. Contract charter rates and duration of Hanjin Shipping Company featured greater risk compared to competitors.  相似文献

We propose a method to automatically generate software and hardware test cases from a UML model developed through a model-based development process. Where languages such as source-code languages are used within the model, input and expected values for each test case are generated using a custom parser. As a next step, unit test cases are combined to generate integration test cases using a bottom-up approach. Then these cases are converted into hardware test cases for approval testing of embedded systems, using XQuery and hardware mapping tables. We demonstrate this process by applying it to the power window switch module of a Hyundai Santa Fe vehicle. Our approach provides an automatic testing procedure for embedded systems developed by model-based methods, and generates test cases efficiently using a recombination of signals. In conclusion, our proposed method could help reduce the resources needed for test case generation from software to hardware.  相似文献

We consider a hub and spoke location problem (HSLP) with multiple scenarios. The HSLP consists of four subproblems: hub location, spoke location, spoke allocation, and customer allocation Under multiple scenarios, we aim to provide a set of well‐distributed solutions, close to the true Pareto optimal solutions, for decision makers. We present a novel multi‐objective symbiotic evolutionary algorithm to solve the HSLP under multiple scenarios. The algorithm is modeled as a two‐leveled structure, which we call the two‐leveled multi‐objective symbiotic evolutionary algorithm (TMSEA). In TMSEA, two main processes imitating symbiotic evolution and endosymbiotic evolution are introduced to promote the diversity and convergence of solutions. The evolutionary components suitable for each sub‐problem are defined. TMSEA is tested on a variety of test‐bed problems and compared with existing multi‐objective evolutionary algorithms. The experimental results show that TMSEA is promising in solution convergence and diversity.  相似文献

The object of this study is to analyze the characteristics of vortex-induced vibration of a slender marine structure with the numerical method. Applying a dynamic analysis method for a slender marine structure based on the 3D finite difference method, we carried out case studies for a tensioned beam model at a constant flow speed. The hydrodynamic forces, in the direction of inline and cross-flow, created by vortex shedding are simultaneously considered based on Morison equation. The frequency of force in the inline direction corresponding to the unstable zone is evaluated. An eigenvalue analysis for different flow speeds of a tensioned beam considering the effect of the tension increase due to the inline and cross-flow drag forces is performed. We found that a revision of the eigenvalue should be considered if the tension along a riser or beam is significantly affected by an environmental or functional load. From a trajectory on the XY plane it was shown that the riser did not move in an exact 8 shape for all flow conditions due to the phase angle difference between inline and cross-flow displacement. It is believed that the phase angles between inline and cross-flow displacements in high modes are different among the nodes.  相似文献

Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFLS) is a system which assists driver's field of vision by automatically controlling its brightness and illumination angle to adapt various driving conditions such as climate, traffic, road changes and so forth. This paper aims to propose novel model-based PID gain design method to improve the performances of Dynamic Bending Light (DBL) module that change horizontal angle of a system by applying Brent-Dekker algorithm that finds the root of nonlinear function and implementing Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm to the system reduction process. Along with the linear system model-based control theory, motor dynamics were modeled with frequency response. Validation of the prototype resulted in having less than 3 % error from the simulation, where position initialization and the real-time status monitoring function is available due to the closed loop control which enables over 3 times faster response than the conventional open-loop system.  相似文献

To ensure the successful implementation of China’s Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, it is essential to enable the real-time monitoring of containers’ locations, prevent theft during cargo delivery, ensure more efficient logistics management and reduce carbon emissions. For this, it is vital to have an economic and effective system to track and control containers across multiple countries. However, this requirement cannot be met by today’s container tracking systems because they are either limited within the borders of each country or expensive to employ internationally. This study thus presents a framework for an IoT-based container tracking system that enables users not only to grasp the international flow of container movement with one check but also to achieve smooth cross-border procedures. To verify the system’s performance, an empirical test was made for an actual container shipped from Korea to Poland. The test results showed that the system could successfully track the location of the container in real time across international borders. Last, this study discusses the policy development and international cooperation that should take place to enable the introduction of this container tracking system.  相似文献

The total economic value for a transportation service consists of use, option, and non-use value. The use benefit is based on a traveler’s willingness to pay for usual consumption of the service. The optional value, on the other hand, is related to the possible use of the service for trips not yet anticipated or currently accommodated by other travel modes. The non-use value, however, is derived from the intrinsic merit of the service, even though a trip-maker never actually or potentially depends on the mode. A closed-ended contingent valuation method is considered for the quantification of the option and non-use values. A survey of single- and double-bounded dichotomous choices is conducted with a case study of South Korean bus operations. A logistic regression model and a survival analysis for the single- and double-bounded approaches, respectively, are applied. The estimation result is examined according to the statistical property required and the behavioral validity expected. In particular, three issues from the output are discussed. First, the results help to show the preferable framework between single- and double-bounded surveys for addressing an individual’s option and non-use values. Second, the differences in the absolute values of option and non-use values are compared. Thirdly, the relationship between trip-makers’ willingness to pay and the level of service of their primary travel modes are investigated. In conclusion, the summary of research and the possibilities for future studies are given.  相似文献
