Levels of the heavy metals Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) were determined in coastal water, sediments and soft tissues of the gastropod limpet, Patella caerulea, and the bivalve, Barbatus barbatus, from seven different stations in the western coast of the Gulf of Suez. The concentrations of heavy metals in water ranged between 3.37–4.78, 18.83–21.46, 2.75–3.17, 0.22–0.27, 0.99–1.21, 2.69–3.65, 3.75–4.56 μg L− 1 and 23.82–32.78 mg g− 1 for Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni, Mn and Fe, respectively. The corresponding concentration values in the sediments were 8.65–12.16, 51.78–58.06, 36.52–42.15, 3.23–3.98, 9.03–12.75, 34.31–49.63, 3.28–4.56 and 64.20–70.22 μg g− 1 for Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni, Mn and Fe, respectively. The highest accumulated metals were Fe, Zn and Mn in both P. caerulea and B. barbatus, while the lowest one was Cd. The accumulation of metals was more pronounced in P. caerulea than B. barbatus. The highest concentrations of all metals in water, sediments and mollusca were recorded at Adabiya harbour north of the Gulf, while the lowest concentrations were recorded at Gabal El-Zeit and Hurghada. Land based activities and ships awaiting berth are the main source of metal pollution in the northern part of the Gulf. 相似文献

Diagnostic studies of ocean dynamics based on the analysis of oceanographic cruise data are usually quite sensitive to observation errors, to the station distribution and to the synopticity of the sampling. Here we present an error analysis of the first two sources. The third one is evaluated in Part II of this work (J. Mar. Sys. (2005), this issue). For observed variables and those linearly related to them, we use the Optimal Statistical Interpolation (OI) formulation. For variables which are not linearly related to observed variables (e.g., the vertical velocity), we carry out numerical experiments in a consistent way with OI statistics. Best results are obtained when some kind of scale selection or spatial filtering is applied in order to suppress small scales that cannot be properly resolved by the station distribution.The formulation is first applied to a high resolution (SeaSoar) sampling aimed to the recovery of mesoscale features in a region of large spatial variability (noise-to-signal fraction of the order of 0.002). Fractional errors (rms error divided by the standard deviation of the field) are estimated in about 2% for dynamic height and between 4% and 20% for geostrophic vorticity and vertical velocity. For observed variables, observation errors and sampling limitations are shown to contribute in similar amounts to total errors. For derived variables, sampling errors are by far the dominant contribution. For less dense samplings (e.g., equally spaced CTD stations), fractional errors are about 6% for dynamic height and between 15% and 30% for geostrophic vorticity and vertical velocity. Surface topology, cone angle and the forces acting on the cone of the clutch type limited slip differential (LSD) are major
design parameters for the bias ratio and the noise condition. Therefore much research has been dedicated to these developments
but the results have been used to submit patents. A new cone type limited slip differential for sport utility vehicles and
recreational vehicles, which has a very simple structure and easy compliance with the vehicle performance, has been developed
by the axiomatic approach and the ultrasonic nano crystal surface modification (UNSM) technology. The design criteria and
optimal value of the design parameters are determined by the axiomatic approach utilizing CAE tools. Test methodologies in
a test rig and in a vehicle were also developed. Test results showed good performance of bias ratio and noise level but durability

In this work, the preview control problem is considered for fully active and hydro-pneumatic slow-active systems. Based on the quarter car model, linear optimal control theory is used to derive the control laws. The Pade approximation technique is used to represent the preview time resulting from a preview sensor mounted at the front bumper to measure the road irregularities ahead of the front wheels. The results for the slow-active system with preview showed that there is 15% improvement in ride comfort compared to slow-active without preview and 28.5% improvement over passive system at similar root mean square (r.m.s) dynamic tyre load and suspension working space. The performance gains are, however, lower by about 15% than those obtainable with the theoretically ideal, fully active system with preview. The power results for slow active with and without preview showed that a 2kW fixed displacement hydraulic pump is enough for full vehicle requirements. 相似文献

Recent developments in the aerospace and automotive industries have significantly affected the progress of modern manufacturing technologies, including the heat treatment of gear wheels. This view has been expressed in the works of Gräfen and Edenhofer (1999), Herring and Houghton (1995), Preisser et al. (1998) and Sugiyama et al. (1999). For ecological and economic reasons, however, traditional treatments are still in use. Additionally, the implementation of a new process in the aerospace industry is very difficult due to the safety precautions that are involved in this kind of production. In order to protect the surfaces of components from disadvantageous structural changes related to the hardening process (oxidation, decarburization and carburizing) galvanic copper plating is widely used even though the process is known to be harmful to the environment. On the other hand, as pointed out by Dawes and Cooksey (1965), it is commonly known that the most effective protection of a batch against these undesirable effects is a protective atmosphere applied during the heating. Therefore, the development of a fully controlled and repeatable process of gear wheel heat treatment under a protective atmosphere will reduce the global emission of toxic substances originating from galvanic copper plating and cooper stripping processes, while at the same time providing more effective protection of the parts. 相似文献

The Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine has attracted much interest because it can simultaneously achieve
high efficiency and low emissions. However, the ignition timing is difficult to control because this engine has no physical
ignition mechanism. In addition, combustion proceeds very rapidly because the premixed mixture ignites simultaneously at multiple
locations in the cylinder, making it difficult to increase the operating load. In this study, an HCCI engine was operated
using blended test fuels comprised of dimethyl ether (DME) and methane, each of which have different ignition characteristics.
The effects of mixing ratios and absolute quantities of the two types of fuel on the ignition timing and rapidity of combustion
were investigated. Cool flame reaction behavior, which significantly influences the ignition, was also analyzed in detail
on the basis of in-cylinder spectroscopic measurements. The experimental results revealed that within the range of the experimental
conditions used in this study, the quantity of DME supplied substantially influenced the ignition timing, whereas there was
little observed effect from the quantity of methane supplied. Spectroscopic measurements of the behavior of a substance corresponding
to HCHO also indicated that the quantity of DME supplied significantly influenced the cool flame behavior. However, the rapidity
of combustion could not be controlled even by varying the mixing ratios of DME and methane. It was made clear that changes

The French-German research project Bahn.Ville, dealing with Rail oriented development and intermodality in German and French urban regions, has consisted in identifying the principles and factors of success of an urban development oriented towards rail, and in testing them in the agglomeration of Saint-Étienne. One of the research-actions focussed on identifying and anticipating the potential impacts in terms of urban development of a new transport system, of the tram-train type, on an existing railway line. The effect of the insertion of new stops on the global journey time is one of the criterion of the evaluation of new stops. A simulation method of the journey times is presented in this paper. A theoretical analysis is presented to model a hydromechanical, semi-active suspension system, first as a single wheel station and then as fitted to each wheel of an off-road vehicle. Predicted results show that two benefits are obtained by comparison with the equivalent passive system. First, vehicle attitude is controlled for changes in body forces arising from static loads or braking/cornering inputs. In optimally controlled active suspensions with either full or incomplete state feedback there is tradeoff between system performance and overall stiffness. It is sought to remove this limitation by incorporating integral action which results in a system with infinite stiffness towards static loading, but which is soft with respect to road inputs. The system is also able to eliminate the steady state deflections due to step and (potentially) ramp type inputs at the wheel.
