There are several important structural design parameters in the analysis of a mat type structure for a jackup mobile offshore drilling unit. These consist of dimensions for the mat, soil foundation types, and structural loads. Methods for determining the proper dimension of the mat structure, modeling the structure and its loading cases, modeling the soil conditions and a method for identifying critical load cases for each element and load case is presented. By using a database approach for the finite element output for all of the various loading cases, a rational approach is presented which solves the problem of sorting and analyzing all of the elements and load cases, ensuring that all are included and none of the critical cases are missed.  相似文献

It is argued that some of Grey's criticisms (this issue) — including those at the centre of his argument - are based on faulty logic, invalid premises, or lack of clarity about what current practice actually is. An appropriate definition of generalised cost, together with a sensitive disaggregation of major groups of the population, can help to increase the reliability of forecasts and provide a consistent underlying framework for analysis of otherwise disparate projects.Some of Grey's criticisms are more valid, however, and there is a case for some changes in current practice. This can best be done by adapting, rather than abolishing, the tool of generalised cost, since the alternatives available seem even more flawed, in terms of being either arbitrary or inconsistent.The author gratefully acknowledges the help of M. In many cities and towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Councils on Aging are running dial-a-ride services for elderly residents. A survey of these organizations was made to determine the service characteristics of their transportation systems. While the Council on Aging dial-a-rides do not achieve productivities as high as those achieved by public transit dial-a-rides, lower operating costs are achieved on a per hour basis. Thus the costs per passenger trip are very close to those for the public transit systems. The major advantage of the Council on Aging systems is their ability to employ volunteer or inexpensive labor. These systems are thus very attractive in areas with unused volunteer resources.  相似文献

Urban transit in the United States is going through a crisis of rising costs, increasing fares, falling patronage, and concomitant service reductions; typical of the pattern is San Francisco’s Municipal Railway, the agency in charge of all the City’s transit. From a basic fare of 15c in 1969, two increases brought the fare to 25c by 1972, and cut sharply into a previously stable patronage. The “Muni”, in an effort to reduce costs and meet its budgeted deficit, attempted to reduce service by ten to fifteen percent. From an analysis of the data which could be obtained, it appears that neither efficiency not equity in the City would have been served by the proposed cutbacks. The analysis draws from a variety of sources and methods in exploring the interactions within the transportation system and within the city budget.  相似文献

A theory has been developed for the analysis and prediction of the dynamic frequency response of lateral force and moment acting upon a pneumatic tire when the wheel is moved laterally and swivelled about the vertical axis. The theory establishes the force and moment response of a tire model which consists of a stretched circular string with mass, elastically supported to the wheel-center-plane. The analysis is confined to small deviations from rectilinear motion such that it is permissible to assume that sliding does not occur in the contact area. In this manner, the equations are kept linear.

The theory which gives an exact analysis of the dynamic response of the model adopted shows satisfactory qualitative agreement with experiments. The change in the moment response due to tire inertia reduces the tendency to shimmy at higher frequencies and higher speeds. The lateral force response, however, changes in an unfavorable fashion which, for castered wheels, may result in a decrease of the effective damping about the king-pin at higher speeds and frequencies.  相似文献

At great scales of time and space, the dynamics of the Mediterranean Sea, a concentration basin, are mainly linked to its freshwater budget. This budget is subject to evolutions due to man's use of freshwater and to climatic changes affecting precipitation and/or evaporation. Marine dynamics and Atlantic, atmospheric and terrestrial inputs are strong constraints for the geochemical behaviour of the Mediterranean Sea. From measurements made during the last decades in the deep western water, it appeared that temperature, salinity, nutrients and trace metal concentrations were changing with time. In spite of its depth, the Mediterranean Sea looks like a coastal ocean, according to its coast length, watershed and number of inhabitants and to its fast response to climatic and environmental changes. The changes discovered in deep homogeneous waters are signatures of evolutions occurred in the surface layer. But in this layer and particularly in coastal waters, climatic and/or environmental trends may be masked by seasonal and interannual variabilities of not only physical and chemical characteristics but also climatic forcing or anthropic inputs. Analyses of river runoff, atmospheric inputs or climatic trends together with marine evolutions indicate constraints concerning probable changes in the coastal sea and/or in the surface water and processes involved at the interfaces. Moreover, changes observed in coastal or deep-water constitute new constraints for the modelling of the marine circulation and the transfer of matter.  相似文献

减少城市的小汽车交通量,促进城市交通运输能力的持续稳定发展,已成为人口密集型的大城市制定交通运输政策的一项主要目标,也是香港制定交通运输政策所期望达到的目标。但根据国际标准,香港居民对小汽车的拥有量和使用频率已经非常低了。首先是明确香港人为什么要拥有小汽车,其次是探索小汽车的拥有者对小汽车的依赖程度,第三是识别政策的含意。基于对401位小汽车拥有者的调查,得出了这样的结论:尽管城市里有很好的公共交通,但人们一旦拥有了小汽车后,便会开始变得依桢小汽车进行所有的外出活动。因此,为了促进交通运输持续、稳定发展,小汽车的拥有量和使用频率必须受到控制。  相似文献

基于地理信息系统以及热区基本模型,研究了道路热区的鉴别方法。该方法对道路网依据一定优先权进行合并以获取道路基本单元,模拟了交通事故的空间分布,并采用Monte Carlo法定义各道路基本单元交通事故数阈值,通过检验道路基本单元的空间邻近性得到热区,并对上海世博园周边道路热区进行了鉴别。分析结果表明:道路网经合并后,不规则道路基本单元的百分比由41.5%下降到14.8%;世博园周边共有84个仅涉及车辆、33个涉及行人的热区,与实际相符。可见,该方法能有效鉴别道路危险区域。  相似文献
