Production and transfer of lipid through the Antarctic food web is reviewed for the Indian Ocean sector. The slow settling fine particles showed a marked inter-annual variability in biochemical composition with an increase in lipid content as % organic carbon. Comparison of the fatty acid spectra of different size categories of organic particles indicated that fine particles are dominated by saturated, monoenoic and branched acids, while larger material (50–100 μm, 200–500 μm net collected fractions) displayed a signature dominated by polyunsaturated acids. Zooplankton taxa displayed different strategies of lipid accumulation. Lipid content was highest in Thysanoessa macrura females and copepodite stages of Calanus propinquus. Relatively low levels were recorded for juveniles and male stages of euphausiids. Reserve lipids varied with species: C. propinquus showed equal content of triglycerides and wax esters, T. macrura showed a dominance of wax esters and Euphausia superba and Themisto gaudichaudii accumulated only triglycerides. Computed as carbon equivalent and integrated over 200 m, lipids in slow settling particles represented 22.6% of annual primary production. Similar computation with mesozooplankton and E. superba data on biomass and population structure from several summer cruises indicated values of carbon accumulation as lipid reserves and egg production of 4.2 and 0.1% of annual primary production for copepods and 4.4 and 3.8% for E. superba. Identification and quantification of plankton bloom events in the Baltic Sea by continuous pCO2 and chlorophyll a measurements on a cargo ship 总被引:4,自引:1,他引:3
Continuous measurements of the surface water CO2 partial pressure (pCO2) and the chlorophyll a fluorescence were performed in the Baltic Sea using a fully automated measurement system deployed on a cargo ship. The ship commuted regularly at two day intervals between the Mecklenburg Bight (Luebeck) and the Gulf of Finland (Helsinki). The pCO2 data collected during June 2003 and September 2004 were used to identify biological production events such as the spring bloom and the midsummer cyanobacteria bloom in five different sub-regions. To quantify the net biomass production, the decrease of the total CO2, NCT (normalized to a uniform alkalinity), during the production periods was calculated using the pCO2, temperature and salinity records and the mean alkalinity. Taking into account the CO2 air/sea exchange and the formation of dissolved organic carbon, a simple mass balance yielded the net production of particulate organic carbon which represents the total biomass. The chlorophyll a concentrations obtained from the fluorescence data showed peaks that in most cases coincided with the production maxima and thus supported the interpretation of the pCO2 data. The production during both the spring bloom (2004) and the midsummer nitrogen fixation period (2003) increased by a factor of about three from the southwest to the northeast. For the spring bloom our estimates were significantly higher than those based on the winter nutrient supply and Redfield C / N and C / P ratios. This indicated the existence of additional nutrient sources such as dissolved organic nitrogen, early nitrogen fixation and preferential P mineralization. The selection and evaluation of road schemes through the Leitch framework is based on a combination of cost-benefit analysis and environmental impact assessment. Both techniques involve the definition and valuation of a number of costs and benefits. These costs and benefits are defined and valued in isolation to each other so that we know virtually nothing about the relative valuation that people assign to different types of costs and benefits which might affect them directly or indirectly. This paper outlines the development of a method which allows people to conceptualise the costs and benefits of a road scheme in their own terms and then to rank schemes in relation to those costs and benefits. This method is based upon an interview process involving the use of repertory grid technique. The information from the repertory grid technique is used as a sound basis for determining trade-offs between attributes and for attempting to obtain monetary valuations of different project attributes. A number of exploratory interviews are reported which outline some of the difficulties with a number of the survey features including the choice of case-study, interviewer and information biases and sample and non-response biases. A model of driver's route choice behavior under advanced traveler information system (ATIS) is developed based on data collected from learning experiments using interactive computer simulation. The experiment subjected drivers to 32 simulated days in which they were to choose between the freeway or a side road. A neural network model is used as a convenient modeling technique in this initial phase of the analysis. The results indicated that most subjects made route choices based mainly on their recent experiences. It was also demonstrated that route choice behaviors are related to the personal characteristics as well as the characteristics of the respective routes. Travel experiences have less effect on the choice of the side road compared to the freeway and the results indicate that the prediction accuracy of the model, the acceptance rate of advice, and the quality of advice are closely correlated. The model developed here was for advice consistently provided at a level of 75 percent accuracy. The paper concludes with a discussion of experimental limitations and suggestions for future research. 相似文献

developed in this study, taking stiffness and strength constraints into account. Although extensive research may be found
in the literature in the field of engine support system optimization, no other studies have considered the compliances and
resonances of the structure of the vehicle. In the present paper, NVH analysis results of the whole vehicle were used in an
optimization procedure to suppress the transmitted vibration. A procedure was developed to minimize the transmitted accelerations
to the mid-point of the driver’s seat rail. A DOE-based response surface methodology (RSM) was adopted to determine the optimal
solution. Natural frequencies of the body, suspension, and other subsystems were taken into consideration in determining the

In this paper, the influence of injection parameters on the transition from Premixed Charge Combustion Ignition (PCCI) combustion
to conventional diesel combustion was investigated in an optically accessible High-Speed Direct-Injection (HSDI) diesel engine
using multiple injection strategies. The heat release characteristics were analyzed using incylinder pressure for different
operating conditions. The whole cycle combustion process was visualized with a high-speed video camera by simultaneously capturing
the natural flame luminosity from both the bottom of the optical piston and the side window, showing the three dimensional
combustion structure within the combustion chamber. Eight operating conditions were selected to address the influences of
injection pressure, injection timing, and fuel quantity of the first injection on the development of second injection combustion.
For some cases with early first injection timing and a small fuel quantity, no liquid fuel is found when luminous flame points
appear, which shows that premixed combustion occurs for these cases. However, with the increase of first injection fuel quantity
and retardation of the first injection timing, the combustion mode transitions from PCCI combustion to diffusion flame combustion,
with liquid fuel being injected into the hot flame. The observed combustion phenomena are mainly determined by the ambient
temperature and pressure at the start of the second injection event. The start-of-injection ambient conditions are greatly
influenced by the first injection timing, fuel quantity, and injection pressure. Small fuel quantity and early injection timing
of the first injection event and high injection pressure are preferable for low sooting combustion. 相似文献
