Steady and Transient Turning of Tractor-Semitrailer and Truck-Trailer Combinations: A Linear Analysis
A simplified analysis is made of the yaw stability and control of the two types of the commercial vehicle combinations (tractor-semitrailer, truck-trailer) at a constant forward velocity during steady and transient turning. The combined vehicle is treated as a linear dynamic system (Fig. 2). The steer angle at the front wheels of the tractor (or truck) and the steady-state responses if the road verhicle train (yaw rate, articulation angles and sideslip angle) are calculated (Equations 18 to 25). Exploratory calculations are performed to determine the influence of the cornering stiffness of the tires for the two types of the vehicle combinations upon the steady-state responses (Figs. 7 to 10). For a linear simplified model of articulated vehicle the steady-state turning behaviour is stable also under conditions of rather high driving speed (70 km/h). A simplified analysis of the transient turning behaviour of the two types of road trains has shown the tractor-semitrailer to preserve stability even under driving speeds exceeding 70 km/h (Fig. 13), whereas the truck-trailer combinations appear to become oscillatory unstable if the driving speed rises above the 60 km/h margin (Fig. 14). 相似文献

The issue of shared use urban freight facilities first received attention during the 1970s when it was observed that, while inter-urban freight movements were becoming increasingly efficient, there were significant diseconomies in the movement of freight via truck within urban areas. Early research suggested that shared urban freight facilities should be constructed so that trucking companies could consolidate smaller shipments into larger ones. In the past few years, the concept of Urban Ports has gained increasing attention, not just for carriers who need to load and unload freight, but to provide a place near the urban center for truckers to wait out peak traffic periods. Improving freight connectivity is increasingly a topic at the centre of the international trade and transport policy agendas. An examination of available documents and studies in both the policy-making and the academic fields shows that the concept of freight connectivity has often been defined in different ways, and thus has taken a variety of meanings. This poses the question on what connectivity is and what are its determinants in the context of international trade. We are not aware of any studies that have analysed, in a systematic way, the different perspectives and determinants of freight connectivity so as to increase access to international markets. This paper seeks to fill this gap by performing a systematic literature review that spans disciplines such as Transport Engineering, Transport and International Economics, and Supply Chain Management. The outcome of this examination is a multidisciplinary framework that hopefully will help stakeholders to understand freight connectivity to international markets better, as well as guide future research and analysis in policy-making. 相似文献

For steer-by-wire systems, the steering feedback must be generated artificially due to the system characteristics. Classical control concepts require operating-point driven optimisations as well as increased calibration efforts in order to adequately simulate the steering torque in all driving states. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are an innovative control concept; they are capable of learning arbitrary non-linear correlations without complex knowledge of physical dependencies. The present study investigates the suitability of neural networks for approximating unknown steering torques. To ensure robust processing of arbitrary data, network training with a sufficient volume of training data is required, that represents the relation between the input and target values in a wide range. The data were recorded in the course of various test drives. In this research, a variety of network topologies were trained, analysed and evaluated. order to reduce the long design period and analysis error that plagues traditional auto-body concept design, an intelligent
CAE system has been successfully developed and implemented based on the UGS NX/API opening platform. This system, the so-called
ACD-ICAE (Auto-body concept design-intelligent computer aided engineering) System that means concept design-intelligent computer
aided engineering system, employs a fully parametrized template method to build the conceptual auto-body geometry model and
FEM model quickly and easily. It also integrates auto-body modeling, analysis and optimization on only one CAD platform via
a parametric variables database. Moreover, all parametric variables are shared and updated in different phases of the ACD-ICAE
System. A wizard User Interface (UI) based on knowledge of auto-body engineering was developed and used in this system. The
procedures implementing the functional diagram of the ACD-ICAE system are also provided. A typical example of a car body concept

A hydraulic power-assist system is a hydraulic regeneration system that can significantly improve fuel economy when installed
on a conventional bus operating in urban traffic. This paper presents a methodology for matching a new hydraulic power-assist
system (HPA) to a conventional bus. The HPA and the conventional bus were modeled using the AMESim environment. The HPA was
optimized using a simulation-based orthogonal design method with two indexes, the fuel economy and the acceleration performance.
According to the simulation results, the volume of the accumulator was the primary factor affecting fuel economy, and the
gear ratio of the transfer case was the primary factor influencing the acceleration performance. As a result, tradeoffs between
the two indexes are required for a practical operational scenario. Experimental results demonstrated that the optimal HPA
installed on a conventional bus was able to satisfy the acceleration performance requirement of the vehicle and also reduced

Abstract In this paper, we present a dynamic traffic assignment-simulation modeling framework (DYNASMART-P) to support the evaluation and planning of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services in urban transportation networks. The model represents the different characteristics associated with BRT operations such as: exclusive right-of-way lanes, limited-stop service, signal prioritization at congested intersections, and enhanced bus stops to reduce passenger boarding times. A set of simulation experiments is conducted using the model to study the impact of introducing a hypothetical BRT service in the Knoxville area in the State of Tennessee. In these experiments, the different operational characteristics of BRT are evaluated in terms of potential impact on transit ridership and on the interacting auto traffic. The results illustrate the advantages of BRT for increasing transit ridership and improving overall system performance. 相似文献

Abstract Providing efficient public transportation has been recognized as a potential way of alleviating congestion, improving mobility, mitigating air pollution, and reducing energy consumption. Many people use public transportation systems for their daily commute, while others use different transportation modes (e.g. cars, taxis, carpools, etc.). Inexpensive fares with good transit service encourages ridership, and the resulting revenue may be used to provide better service. Optimization of transit service frequency and its associated fare structure is desirable in order to increase revenue at reasonable transit operating expenditure. The objective of the study reported here is to maximize profit subject to service capacity constraint, while elastic demand is considered. The solution methodology is developed and applied to solve the profit maximization problem in a case study based on Newark, NJ, USA. Numerical results, including optimal solutions and sensitivity analyses, are presented. It is found that an optimal temporal headway and differential fare structure that maximizes total profit for the studied subway system can be efficiently solved. 相似文献
