The simulations of the flow around a high-speed vessel in both catamaran and monohull configurations are carried out by the numerical solution of the Reynold averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations. The goal of the analysis is the investigation of the interference phenomena between the two hulls, with focus on its dependence on the Reynolds number (Re). To this aim, numerical simulations are carried out for values of Re ranging from 106 to 108 for two different values of the Froude number (Fr = 0.30, 0.45). Wave patterns, wave profiles, limiting streamlines, surface pressure and velocity fields are analyzed; comparison is made between the catamaran and the monohull configurations. Dependence of the pressure and viscous resistance coefficients, as well as of the interference factor, on the Reynolds number is investigated. Verification and validation for both resistance coefficients and wave cuts is also performed.  相似文献

Numerical Simulation of Pantograph-Overhead Equipment Interaction   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Summary The main features of a mathematical model for the simulation of pantograph-catenary dynamic interaction are presented and, in particular, some aspects related to the catenary and pantograph schematisation are outlined. The model enables to investigate the behaviour of the system in a relatively large frequency range (up to 100 Hz), due to the inclusion of the bending modes of the collector head. In order to simulate the contact between wire and collector, a procedure based on the penalty method is adopted, and it is shown by means of a numerical test case that the method reproduces the constraint acting at the pantograph-catenary interface over a wide frequency range with high accuracy, provided that suitable values are given to the contact parameters. The problem of minimising the numerical disturbances due to the discretisation of the contact wire is also discussed, showing that the entity of these disturbances can be reduced to acceptable values by adopting a proper discretisation of the contact wire, so that no post-filtering of simulation results is required. Applications to some specific aspects of current collection are presented, and comparisons with available experimental data from line tests are shown.  相似文献

This paper describes the results of a voluntary benchmark initiative concerning the simulation of pantograph–catenary interaction, which was proposed and coordinated by Politecnico di Milano and participated by 10 research institutions established in 9 different countries across Europe and Asia. The aims of the benchmark are to assess the dispersion of results on the same simulation study cases, to demonstrate the accuracy of numerical methodologies and simulation models and to identify the best suited modelling approaches to study pantograph–catenary interaction. One static and three dynamic simulation cases were defined for a non-existing but realistic high-speed pantograph–catenary couple. These cases were run using 10 of the major simulation codes presently in use for the study of pantograph–catenary interaction, and the results are presented and critically discussed here. All input data required to run the study cases are also provided, allowing the use of this benchmark as a term of comparison for other simulation codes.  相似文献

This paper describes the methods for the numerical simulation of pantograph–catenary interaction developed at Politecnico di Milano and implemented in the simulation software PCaDA (Pantograph–Catenary Dynamic Analysis). The paper also describes how these methods were applied in the pantograph–catenary interaction benchmark treated in this special issue and provides some evaluation of the results obtained using PCaDA in this benchmark.  相似文献

In this work we consider the following hazmat transportation network design problem. A given set of hazmat shipments has to be shipped over a road transportation network in order to transport a given amount of hazardous materials from specific origin points to specific destination points, and we assume there are regional and local government authorities that want to regulate the hazmat transportations by imposing restrictions on the amount of hazmat traffic over the network links. In particular, the regional authority aims to minimize the total transport risk induced over the entire region in which the transportation network is embedded, while local authorities want the risk over their local jurisdictions to be the lowest possible, forcing the regional authority to assure also risk equity. We provide a linear bilevel programming formulation for this hazmat transportation network design problem that takes into account both total risk minimization and risk equity. We transform the bilevel model into a single-level mixed integer linear program by replacing the second level (follower) problem by its KKT conditions and by linearizing the complementary constraints, and then we solve the MIP problem with a commercial optimization solver. The optimal solution may not be stable, and we provide an approach for testing its stability and for evaluating the range of its solution values when it is not stable. Moreover, since the bilevel model is difficult to be solved optimally and its optimal solution may not be stable, we provide a heuristic algorithm for the bilevel model able to always find a stable solution. The proposed bilevel model and heuristic algorithm are experimented on real scenarios of an Italian regional network.  相似文献

Over the last twenty to thirty years, railway vehicle dynamics has changed from being an essentially mechanical engineering discipline to one that is increasingly starting to include sensors, electronics and computer processing. This paper surveys the application of these technologies to suspensions and running gear, focused upon the complementary issues of control (which has been reviewed within Vehicle System Dynamics previously) and monitoring (which has not previously been reviewed). The theory, concepts and implementation status are assessed in each case, from which the paper identifies the key trends and concludes with a forward look at what is likely to develop over the next years.  相似文献

In this paper, we present our analysis of the non-cavitating and cavitating unsteady performances of the Potsdam Propeller Test Case (PPTC) in oblique flow. For our calculations, we used the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation (RANSE) solver from the open-source OpenFOAM libraries. We selected the homogeneous mixture approach to solve for multiphase flow with phase change, using the volume of fluid (VoF) approach to solve the multiphase flow and modeling the mass transfer between vapor and water with the Schnerr-Sauer model. Comparing the model results with the experimental measurements collected during the Second Workshop on Cavitation and Propeller Performance – SMP’15 enabled our assessment of the reliability of the open-source calculations. Comparisons with the numerical data collected during the workshop enabled further analysis of the reliability of different flow solvers from which we produced an overview of recommended guidelines (mesh arrangements and solver setups) for accurate numerical prediction even in off-design conditions. Lastly, we propose a number of calculations using the boundary element method developed at the University of Genoa for assessing the reliability of this dated but still widely adopted approach for design and optimization in the preliminary stages of very demanding test cases.  相似文献

In many European towns, the demand for fast and efficient mobility is frequently satisfied by means of two-wheeled vehicles. The improvement of comfort of two-wheeled vehicles used by tired and busy workers can increase safety in ground transport. Nowadays, multibody codes make it possible to predict the ride comfort of two-wheeled vehicles by means of time-domain or frequency-domain simulations. Comfort indices can be developed by post-processing the results of numerical simulations. This task is difficult, because the indices should depend on vehicle characteristics and should be independent of road quality and vehicle speed. Poor quality roads may generate nonlinear effects. Speed influences the trim of the vehicle and the wheelbase filtering, which takes place because the same road unevenness excites the front and rear wheel with a time delay which depends on the vehicle's speed.

In this paper, the comfort of two-wheeled vehicles is studied by means of a frequency-domain approach. The wheelbase filtering is averaged considering typical missions of the vehicle. The missions are journeys with a forward speed that assumes different values according to a probability density function. Indices of comfort are calculated taking into account the human sensitivity. The examples show that the proposed comfort indices depend on suspensions' characteristics and, hence, are useful design tools. Finally, some time-domain calculations are carried out to give emphasis to nonlinear effects and to show the limits of the frequency-domain analysis.  相似文献
