In this paper, we propose a method of modeling free flow speed from the viewpoint of hydroplaning. First, the lift forces for different water depths were estimated using Bernoulli’s equation. Compared with the result of the experimental test performed by the Japan Automobile Research Institute, the hydrodynamic pressure coefficient was determined to be 0.03 (tf s2/m4). The validation of the predicted lift force is found in another published paper. A very good match is found between the computed values by the proposed numerical model and the data in other published papers. Then, the loss of contact force is considered to evaluate the hydroplaning performance of a tire. To simulate the hydroplaning speed, a tire-sliding model was utilized to obtain the traction and friction forces between the road surface and the tire. The observation data obtained in Japan in 2009 is compared with the physically computed hydroplaning speed, yielding the conclusion that the traction force at the measured desired speed is, on average, 23.4% of the traction force at hydroplaning speed. The analytical model offers a useful tool to quantitatively show that the free flow speed changes as the water depth increase. 相似文献

A numerical model for the simulation of two dimensional spilling breaking waves is described. It is derived from a previous model which, in turn, takes its underlying ideas from the Cointe and Tulin theory of steady breakers. With respect to the former model, the present one is local, i.e., the inception, extension, and geometry of the breakers are determined through the local shape of the water surface. The model has been implemented in a RANSE code, which was developed for the simulation of ship flows, through a modification in the boundary conditions. This yields a simple and effective way to reproduce the breakers influence on the underlying flow. The resulting code has been used to simulate the flow past a submerged hydrofoil. The numerical results are compared with those of the previous model and with the experimental data obtained by Duncan. 相似文献

This study was concerned with the free-surface wave flow around a surface-piercing foil. The volume of fluid method implemented
in a Navier–Stokes computational fluid dynamics code was employed. Three widely used discretization schemes for the volume
of fluid method were assessed for a test case that involved general ship waves, spilling breaking waves in front of the leading
edge, and bubbly free surfaces in separated regions. A single computational approach was selected for the comparison, and
a grid-dependence study was carried out. The computational results were validated against existing experimental data, showing
good agreement. The validation results suggest that all three discretization schemes perform well, but the best and most efficient
results were obtained using the high-resolution interface capturing scheme. 相似文献

The moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method was applied to compute nonlinear motions of a floating body influenced by the
water on deck. To compute the motions of a rigid body, the fluid pressure at the position of each particle on the body surface
was directly integrated in space and the equations of translational and rotational motions were integrated in time to determine
the correct position of the rigid-body surface at each time step of the time-domain calculation. The performance of this method
was validated through a comparison with measured results in an experiment that was newly conducted using a model of a box-shaped
floating body with a small freeboard. Although the overall agreement was good, some discrepancies were observed for a shorter
wave period, especially for the drift motion in sway. The effect of numerical resolution on the results was checked by changing
the number of particles. With a higher number of particles, no obvious improvement was seen in the global body motions, but
the resolution of the local free-surface profile, including the water on deck, was improved. 相似文献

The recursive component mode synthesis method (RCMS) has been implemented for the finite element analysis model of an automobile
structure as an efficient free vibration analysis tool. The RCMS method is intended to obtain a better performance relative
to the block Lanczos method, which is a traditional method in the industry of obtaining eigenvalues, while obtaining the acceptable
accuracy. A numerical example of the automobile finite element model demonstrates the outstanding performance of RCMS compared

A hypothesis of the minimum energy of secondary flow, suggested by Bessho, is introduced here. According to this hypothesis, it can be expected that hull forms having frame lines with a minimum energy of secondary flow show less form drag. In the first part of this article, secondary flow energy is evaluated for the cases with and without a free-surface effect, and Bessho’s hypothesis is confirmed for practical hull forms. Then optimization methods for the stern hull form are suggested, in which a nonlinear optimization technique is introduced. Numerical examples are given for a practical tanker hull form and a practical container hull form. From these studies, the suggested optimization method can be confirmed as a simplified and practical design method to the select frame lines of stern hull forms. 相似文献
