Pressure drop and heat transfer of catalyzed diesel particulate filters due to changes in soot loading and flow rate

When soot particles are loaded in a diesel particulate filter, it causes increase in back pressure of the exhaust system. To minimize this pressure drop due to DPF, the filter needs to be regenerated after a certain amount of soot has been accumulated. It is crucial to estimate the correct amount of soot that has been accumulated by measuring the differential pressure. It is also important to understand changes in pressure drop due to flow rate variations of the exhaust gas, since the pressure drop would be influenced by the exhaust flow rate as well as the amount of soot. Furthermore, the heat transfer characteristics of the catalyzed diesel particulate filter (CDPF) are another major issue, as the filter is occasionally exposed to high temperature gas. This study presents the characteristics of pressure drop according to the variation of soot loading and the mass flow rate in CDPF. In addition, heat transfer characteristics in the filter was investigated when a high temperature gas flows into the CDPF. Tests were performed in several CDPF samples having varying amounts of catalyst coating. Experimental results indicate that rig-based experiments are useful in understanding the characteristics of pressure drop in the CDPF. In the cake filtration region, a pressure drop has a proportional relationship according to soot loading and mass flow rate. It was found that an increased catalyst coating may lead to enhanced convective heat transfer.     

输油管路网式过滤器压降的实验研究

安装在输油管路上用以保护离心泵、流量计等管路设备的过滤器的滤网引起的管路局部压降损失是不可忽略的。通过量纲分析得到了滤网的局部水头损失系数ξ的影响因素：滤网开孔率β和雷诺数Re.并通过实验确定了β和Re对ξ的具体影响,Re对ξ影响不大,可认为与之无关,而β是影响ξ的主要因素。通过回归得到了ξ的计算公式。另外,还分析了输送介质含泥沙时滤网ξ的变化情况。     

Analysis on maneuvering motion characteristics of submarine under static moment in vertical plane北大核心CSCD

[Objectives]Aiming at the problem of poor depth-changing ability of the stern rudder of submarine at low speed, and the problem of reversing the movement trend is difficult when the stern rudder is stuck and encountering abrupt changes of seawater density in the vertical steering maneuver. This paper conducts the mechanism research of static moment maneuver. [Methods]First, it is proved through theoretical analysis that the static moment maneuver can eliminate the reversed velocity phenomenon of the stern rudder. Then, the surfacing process under the static moment maneuver and the rudder hydrodynamic control is numerically simulated. [Results]The simulation results show that the static moment maneuver can make the submarine maintain good vertical plane maneuverability at low speed, eliminate the reversed velocity phenomenon of the stern rudder, and avoid excessive trim angle of the submarine at high speed. At the same time, the recovery effect of the two emergency situations of rudder jamming and falling deep has been improved. [Conclusions]The static moment maneuver is beneficial to the maneuverability and safety of the submarine. The research in this article can provide a reference for the maneuverability design of submarine. © 2023 The Author(s).
