Models of integrated management emphasize the role of the surrounding socioeconomic and political environment in influencing management choices for natural resources. In this study, we explore a model that examines the influence of socioeconomic and political variables on the wetland management programs of U.S. states. Logistic regression was used to identify environmental, socioeconomic, and political variables that explained variation in state wetland programs. The likelihood of strong planning, nonregulatory, regulatory, and overall programs increases as the importance of fisheries in the state increases (p < 0.05), but decreases as population density increases (p < 0.15). Furthermore, there is an increasing likelihood of stronger regulatory and overall programs as environmental group activity and industry importance increases (p < 0.05). These findings provide empirical evidence to support the contention that management approaches used in one state often must be adapted to fit the realities of another given state. 相似文献

Separation from partner and family has been found to be one of the most significant causes of stress for seafarers, with separation from the family one of the most important ‘stress’ factors influencing a decision to reduce planned sea service. Drawing on in-depth interviews with seafarers' partners in the UK, China and India, this paper focuses on the impact of seafaring on family life, with particular attention given to the effects of differing conditions of service and the range of company support available to seafarers and their partners. The paper concludes that the negative consequences of seafaring can be minimized by such policies as shorter trips, continuous employment (rather than employment by voyage) and opportunities for partners and families to sail. Whilst these measures may have financial costs, these can be off-set by improved retention of seafarers and the avoidance of stress-related illnesses. 为探究城市空间集约和土地高效利用背景下城市中心区地下公共空间与轨道交通一体化发展的低碳效应,梳理城市中心区地下公共空间与轨道交通一体化发展在构成要素、开发生命周期等方面的特征,分析一体化策划、规划、设计、建造和运维等发展阶段对促进“双碳”目标实现的作用与意义;构建基于“双碳”目标的包含城市轨道交通发展、城市发展、一体化的低碳效应、城市中心区发展和城市中心区开发5项准则层指标在内的22项指标的一体化测度指标体系,综合运用层次分析法和模糊综合评价法构建城市中心区地下公共空间与轨道交通一体化发展评价方法体系。以南京新街口中心区2005年、2010年、2014年和2019年4个典〖JP2〗型阶段为例进行评价,结果分别为2.349、3.105、3.588和4.222,对应的一体化发展水平分别为较差、中、良和良。对照南京新街口中心区渐进式一体化发展历程可知,南京新街口中心区地下公共空间与轨道交通一体化发展对促进区域“双碳”目标实现作用显著。 相似文献

As an important measure to abate ship-source air emissions, the establishment of Emission Control Area (ECA) has been adopted not only at international level, but also at national and regional level. However, there exists a research gap of employing econometric models to enrich the ECA policy evaluation research by testing the effectiveness of an ECA policy based on the empirical data. This paper focuses on the effectiveness of the ECA policy in shanghai port by adopting regression discontinuity (RD) approach. The RD design is considered as a wonderful substitution for the randomized control trial, which usually serves as a conventional and effective tool to address endogeneity. The causal effect of the ECA policy on the SO2 concentration reduction can be detected by the RD approach. According to the estimated results, there is a discontinuity around the ECA policy cutoff point, and it is indicated that the SO2 concentration in Shanghai decreased by at least 0.229 μg/m3 daily on average due to the implementation of the ECA policy. The positive role that the ECA policy plays in reducing SO2 concentration in Shanghai is well demonstrated. Objective In order to explore the relationship between the “Wits appraisal and the ANB angle, and to see how accurately one can predict the “Wits”. Methods Given the ANB, lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken on 50 boys and 50 girls between the ages of 11~13. Results Each subject had no treatment either a Class Ⅰ or Class Ⅱ malocclusion, a good growth pattern. Group Ⅰ , 13 subjects of 100 had ANB≤1.5°, and negative “Wits” appraisal; group Ⅱ , 61 subjects had 5.8°>ANB>1.5°, and “Wits” appraisal either positive or negative; group Ⅲ , 26 subjects had ANB angle≥5.8°, and positive “Wits” appraisal. Statistically analysis showed that there was no sig nificant difference in sex (P>0.05); there was significant correlation between the ANB and “Wits” values in the group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ (P <0. 05); there was statistical significance in regression analysis in the group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ (P <0. 05). We could predict the “Wits” with 21% accuracy in group Ⅱ. Conclusion The results indicate that these figures are statistically significant but clinically irrelevant. 相似文献
