A numerical analysis of liquid load in elliptical road containers undergoing a steady-state turning manoeuvre is presented for containers of unrestricted size and for containers of fixed capacity. The liquid load is expressed in terms of the horizontal and vertical forces and the overturning moment created by these forces around the middle bottom point of the container. The moment is obtained by integrating the liquid free-surface equation and using numerical calculation of the resulting expressions. An optimization study with an objective to minimize the peak overturning moment is performed on containers of fixed capacity to identify the optimal height/width ratio of the container. The results of this investigation being of a general nature, i.e. with no restriction for an application, are particularly intended for road tankers under a steady turning manoeuvre, where they can be applied with high degree of accuracy.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The deterministic traffic assignment problem based on Wardrop's first criterion of traffic network utilization has been widely studied in the literature. However, the assumption of deterministic travel times in these models is restrictive, given the large degree of uncertainty prevalent in urban transportation networks. In this context, this paper proposes a robust traffic assignment model that generalizes Wardrop's principle of traffic network equilibrium to networks with stochastic and correlated link travel times and incorporates the aversion of commuters to unreliable routes.

The user response to travel time uncertainty is modeled using the robust cost (RC) measure (defined as a weighted combination of the mean and standard deviation of path travel time) and the corresponding robust user equilibrium (UE) conditions are defined. The robust traffic assignment problem (RTAP) is subsequently formulated as a Variational Inequality problem. To solve the RTAP, a Gradient Projection algorithm is proposed, which involves solving a series of minimum RC path sub-problems that are theoretically and practically harder than deterministic shortest path problems. In addition, an origin-based heuristic is proposed to enhance computational performance on large networks. Numerical experiments examine the computational performance and convergence characteristics of the exact algorithm and establish the accuracy and efficiency of the origin-based heuristic on various real-world networks. Finally, the proposed RTA model is applied to the Chennai road network using empirical data, and its benefits as a normative benchmark are quantified through comparisons against the standard UE and System Optimum (SO) models.  相似文献

This paper outlines various analytical approaches of varying complexities to model the wheel in the ride dynamic formulation of off-road tracked vehicles. In addition to a proposed model, four analytical models available in the literature are compared to study their effectiveness in modeling the wheel/track-terrain interaction for ride dynamic evaluation of typical high mobility tracked vehicles. The ride dynamic model used in this study describes the bounce-pitch plane motion of an armoured personnel carrier (Ml 13 APC) traversing over an arbitrary rigid terrain profile at constant speed. The ride dynamic response of the tracked vehicle is evaluated with different wheel models, and compared against field-measured ride data. The relative performance of different wheel models are assessed based on the accuracy of response prediction and associated computational time. The proposed wheel model is found to perform very well in comparison, and is equally applicable for the case of wheeled vehicles.  相似文献

The rollover immunity levels of articulated tank vehicles with partial loads are investigated. A static roll plane model of the articulated vehicle employing partially filled cylindrical tank is developed. The vertical and lateral translation of the liquid cargo due to vehicle roll angle and lateral acceleration, encountered during steady turning, are evaluated. The roll moments arising from vertical and lateral translation of the liquid cargo are determined and incorporated in the roll plane model of the vehicle. The adverse influence of the unique interactions of the liquid within the tank vehicle, on the rollover limit of the articulated vehicle is demonstrated. The influence of compartmenting of the tank on the steady turning roll response of the vehicle is analyzed, and an optimal order of unloading the compartmented tank is discussed.  相似文献

The focus of this paper is on the steady-state curving behaviour of a freight car system with Damper Coupled Wheelset (DCW), where the wheels of conventional shape within an axle are coupled through a damper element. A freight truck model with two DCW and pseudo-car body on curved track is developed to study the influence of wheelset coupler parameter on the curving response and performance. The response is primarily evaluated in terms of wheelset tracking error and yaw misalignment in response to track curvature and cant deficiency. The curving performance is evaluated in terms of slip and flange boundaries. The results in general, indicate that when the value of coupler parameter is reduced, the wheelset response to track curvature increases, and results in flanging and wheel slip on a less tighter curve than those corresponding to conventional rigid axled wheelsets.  相似文献

Vibration isolation characteristics of a sequential hydraulic damper, employing external pressure relief valves, are investigated via analytical means. The sequential hydraulic damper is modelled as a nonlinear dynamical system incorporating nonlinearities due to orifice flows, gas spring and pressure relief mechanisms. The damping characteristics of the sequential hydraulic damper, are compared to those of a constant orifice and a semi-active sequential damper, and discussed in view of their vibration isolation performance. It is established that the performance characteristics of the sequential hydraulic damper are similar to that of a semi-active sequential damper. A tuning methodology to achieve appropriate control of the resonant peak and effective vibration isolation is proposed. The shock and vibration isolation performance of the vehicle model employing a sequential damper are evaluated and compared to those of the vehicle model employing a constant orifice hydraulic damper. It is concluded that the vehicle ride performance can be improved considerably using an adequately tuned sequential damper.  相似文献

Personal history I began my career with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) upon graduation from Kyoto University in 1967. During my 38-year career at the company, I have been involved in a broadrange of maritime activities, and have witnessed dramaticchanges in the industry as it has sought to meet the changingneeds of societies and the globalization of economies. Keyevents in my career include a posting to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines'San Francisco Representative Office from 1975 to 1979;becoming a staff officer of the Planning Division in 1987,followed by a promotion to Deputy General Manager of theDivision in 1988; appointment as General Manager of Europeand Oceania Division in 1993; being elected to a directorshipin 1996; promotion to Managing Director in 1998, SeniorManaging Director in 2000, Deputy President in 2003, andfinally President in 2004. For me, the shipping industry isboth a business and a passion. I am extremely excited aboutthe changes and challenges that lie ahead for the industry aswe begin the 21st Century, and consider myself to be in amost enviable position leading Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, acompany at the vanguard of shipping developments, in theseexhilarating times.  相似文献

The influence of the lateral load shift on the dynamic response characteristics of an articulated tank vehicle is investigated assuming inviscid fluid flow conditions. A quasi-dynamic roll plane model of a partially filled cleanbore tank of circular cross-section is developed and integrated to a three-dimensional model of the articulated vehicle, assuming constant forward speed. The destabilizing effects of liquid load shift are studied by comparing the directional dynamics of the partially filled tank vehicle to that of an equivalent rigid cargo vehicle subject to steady steer input. Dynamic response characteristics demonstrate that the stability of a partially filled tank vehicle is adversely affected by the Liquid load shift The distribution of cornering forces caused by the liquid load shift yield considerable deviation of the path followed by the liquid tank vehicle. The influence of the vehicle speed on the dynamics of the liquid tank vehicle is also investigated for variations in the fill levels and fluid density.  相似文献
