Workshop report - Public transport markets in development

Developing countries and countries in transition represent between 85% and 90% of the world’s population and face unique public transport challenges that are not necessarily present in developed countries. Issues such as the affordability and accessibility of public transport, funding support and capacity to implement are some of the challenges these countries face. Barriers to strategy implementation in these countries could be a failure to understand the broader business and social environment, poor leadership, a lack of inter-disciplinary and inter-implementer collaboration, and weak monitoring and feedback loops. Weak institutional frameworks are evidenced in inappropriate structures often resulting in institutional inertia and conflict. Over-promising of potential impacts and benefits together with a failure to develop sustainable funding mechanisms often lead to a lack of implementation. The workshop argued that different competition and ownership solutions are needed for a range of factors. This poses a challenge to the THREDBO community as it could mean that the traditional concepts are either not relevant or not usable in the majority of the world’s developing countries, or that the traditional approaches are relevant in many respects but need to be substantially extended and adapted to be applicable and usable in the rest of the world.

Technical Challenges of Super-Long Mountainous Tunnels at Great Depth北大核心CSCD

There are various technical challenges faced by the super-long mountainous tunnelling at great depth,and new requirements are arising in terms of the geological investigation, construction period, special geological condi-tions (high ground stress, high geothermal temperature and high-pressure groundwater), disaster prevention & evacua-tion, and social development. Based on an analysis of above mentioned technical challenges, this paper presents tech-nical views on solutions to those challenges and specifies the objectives of related technical development in the fu-ture. To improve the validity and accuracy of the geophysical prospecting, it is necessary to not only increase the accu-racy of ground geophysical exploration at great depth, but also carry out research on the application of such tech-niques to tunnel investigation as airborne geophysical prospecting and HDD combined with borehole geophysical ex-ploration. To maximize the benefits of tunnel projects, it is of importance that more attention should be paid to thoseissues relating to the tunnel design concept, such as the multiple functions of tunnel projects, energy saving andemission reduction, and environmental protection. As for tunnel support theories, in addition to optimizing the currenttheories, some unconventionally new lining theories need to be studied to make the tunnel structure more durable andeconomical. It is also suggested that, in terms of construction, sustained efforts should be put into the development ofinnovative tunnelling techniques for a better, faster and more economical tunnelling, as well as the realization of intel-ligent mechanized tunnelling. 2007年我国车用发动机活塞市场实现了同步高速稳定的增长.由于国内活塞行业竞争的进一步加剧,加上原材料涨价和政府政策调整及国外同行业公司加入等不利因素的影响,我国活塞企业的经营环境不容乐观,整体盈利能力呈下降趋势.2008年车用发动机及活塞企业面临的情况是机遇与挑战并存,在发展上整体呈现稳中上升的态势,但增长幅度将明显放缓,增幅为18%左右,我国活塞企业的经营环境在短期内无明显改善.
