Exhaust Purification and Catalyst of Motor Vehicles

The situation of exhaust purification of motor vehicles confronted by the major au-tomotive manufacturers in different countries and the countermeasures taken by them are brieflydescribde in this paper. Adoption of a three-way catalytic converter on motor vehicle is a mosteffective way to reduce exhaust emission. The working principles and purification characteristics ofvehicle three-way catalytic converter, as well as the approaches in improving the functions of thecatalytic converter are introduced. Finally some new research topics in developing vehicle catalyticconverter used for future tnotor vehicles are explained.
