Abstract:In order to study the engineering geological problems of a high-speed railway tunnel site in the western mountain area of Hubei province,comprehensive exploration methods,including drilling,audio frequency magnetotelluric method and high-density electrical method,were used during the investigation process.These methods were adopted to investigate the strata,hydrogeological and engineering geological conditions of the tunnel site,as well as the spatial distribution of structural faults,karst and water rich fracture zone of rock mass.In addition,the stratigraphic conditions of the target geological body revealed by drilling were compared with the geophysical interpretation results.The study shows that geophysical exploration has a high interpretation accuracy for lithology and rock mass fracture zone,and the two geophysical methods can qualitatively identify the geological bodies with obvious differences in physical characteristics such as structural fault,rock mass fracture zone and karst.The research results show that the abnormal geological bodies detected by different geophysical exploration methods could be different,and the accuracy of geophysical exploration results can be improved by the interpretation and analysis of a variety of geophysical exploration results;through the mutual verification of drilling and two different geophysical exploration,the karst development,water abundance and fault fracture zone distribution in the calcareous cemented conglomerate area of the tunnel site can be better investigated.
