跨文化交际的符号学诠释

人类是符号的动物,人类的交际都是以一定的符号为媒介在一定的规则指导下进行的,因此交际就是符号活动.作为符号的语言或者非语言符号中的能指和所指之间的关系是任意的,又是约定俗成的,没有约定俗成的意义,任何符号都不能达到传递信息的目的,符号的意义因文化不同而不同.在跨文化交际中既要注意语言符号与非语言符号的差异,又要了解语言符号和非语言符号所承载的文化信息.深刻认识语言和非语言符号的约定俗成性,对于促成有效交际不无裨益.

On Semiotic Interpretation of Intercultural Communication

Human beings are the animal of signs and all of the human communication is carried out by means of signs and under the guidance of certain rules, therefore,human communication is the activity of signs. The relationship between the signifier and the signified in verbal signs and non-verbal signs is arbitrary on the one hand and conventional on the other hand. Any sign without the established meaning cannot achieve the purpose of passing information, and the meaning of signs is divergent from culture to culture. In intercultural communication, to guarantee effective and successful communication, it is important for the participants to notice not only the differences of verbal and non-verbal signs, but also the cultural information carried in those signs.
