At beginning from 1980＇ s, there are many kinds of TDJ technology and more then 40000 retarders are exporting to Russia, Poland and America. So far, but to separate the using and maintenance for retarder system is very popular in these countries, that means the station use only and some professional companies in charge for maintenance work, because the higher efficiency, clearer responsilbility and more benefit for both sides. This article discusses and analysis the advantage of professional maintenance based on the TDJ experience in a American classification yard.
