Ecological Impacts of Port Construction Projects and Corresponding Countermeasures

Port construction projects may lead to changes in ecological environments of landside area,intertidal zone,and coastal waters as well.Quantitative calculation of the potential loss of both fishery resources and benthos is made,which has great significance on evaluating the ecological impacts of a port construction project.Reasonably arranging time for construction,properly choosing the construction sites,paying attention to in situ construction managements,enhancing landscape conservation and building,conserving both soil and water environments,actively implementing ecological compensation and restoration and carrying out overall follow-up monitoring activities should be taken to greatly relieve the ecological impacts during construction periods.
