Abstract:This paper elaborates advantages of FBG sensing technological on the basis of introducing FBG sensor manufacturers from home and abroad and the basic principles of FBG sensing technology. FBG is a kind of particular fiber optics, whose changeable parameter of sensitivity is equal to optical wave length. FBG sensors are made up of the sensitive property of their wavelength to physical parameters, such as temperature, strain etc. Several practical examples are given about the application of FBG sensing technology to rail transit vehicles. The prospect of adopting FBG sensing system for rail transit vehicles is highlighted. With the continuous development of FBG sensing technology, the traditional electrical testing methods will be replaced by it gradually.
