| Abstract: | The comprehensive calculation and reliability based design of naval ships at present is more difficult due to the complexity of ship structure. Lots of works must be done, however, either in the field of structural reliability theory or data collection and processing, to develop criteria, standards and procedures. A qualitative method for reliability based structural design was presented. Continuous improvements and faults elimination have been completed through the analyses of faults and influential factors, therefore options for protective measure, quality control and limitation were proposed. This method used in practice showed that it could meet the qualitative requirement of reliability based structural design. |
