The Selection of Error Measures in the Adaptive Finite Element

Error estimate is one of the key problems in the adaptive finite elementmethod. What kind of error maseure should be selected, however, is aquestion that has to be considered first. In this context,the consistency ofthe conversence in the energy and that in the displacements and stresses isproved. Also, the differences and relations of solution accuracies withrespect to different maseure norms are indicated, providing a theoreticalbasis for the selection of eiror measure.
