Abstract:In recent years, railway construction in China is accelerating fast, road network is getting more density, the number of interchanges keeps increasing, and the interchanging relationship is becoming more and more complex. Thus, special bridge piers have become important structures for solving the problem of small angle interchanges between railways. This paper takes Lanzhou-Zhongchuan airport intercity railway crossing over the existing Lanzhou-Xinjiang railway as the background to analyze the planar and spatial relationships between two lines, combined with the site topographical features and the requirements of the building line below the bridge to develop a V-shaped bridge pier scheme. In order to reduce the adverse impact of the construction of the new line on the existing railway operation, a new type of bridge pier with novel structure, attractive appearance, safe structure and reasonable working process is developed by setting up ball joint at the bottom of the pier for swivel construction. The V-shaped pier is the first domestic application and has been operating well since the opening of the railway.
Keywords:Railway bridge  Swivel construction  V-shaped bridge pier  Interchange  Existing railway
