With the entry into force of the Tier III emission convention for NOx emission restrictions, more and more ships are installing SCR systems. It is increasingly important for ship management companies to maintain and manage SCR systems and respond to PSC inspections. Based on the principle of the SCR system, the article analyzes the main causes of failure such as catalyst failure, urea failure and crystallization, ammonia escape, temperature management and control, and proposes countermeasures such as catalyst cleaning, reactivation, and regeneration treatment.
