The Main Geotechnical Problems in the No. 2 Line of Taiyuan Metro Construction

Based on the comprehensive analysis of the natural topography, geological structure, lithology, and hydrogeology in the site of No. 2 line of Taiyuan Metro, the paper describes the main geotechnical problems which could occur in the con- struction of the metro, such as sand liquefaction, high groundwater level, excavation and supporting of deep foundation pit and so on. Meanwhile, through the summary of the technique and the experience of similar projects, the paper proposes some effective suggestions and countermeasures for solving the geotechnical problems faced by the construction of No. 2 line of Taiyuan metro.
