| 摘 要： | 《卡斯特桥市长》是哈代"威塞克斯""性格环境小说"中非常出色的一部,其主人公亨查尔复杂多变、灵肉兼具的性格特征更是许多文学评论家非常关注的一个焦点,本文拟用结构主义二项对立的分析方法,从美与丑、善与恶、奋进与消沉、理智与激情等不同侧面阐述亨查尔性格的多重性及其性格的不断自我完善和自我进化,说明本文作者哈代先生对美的追求和对人类崇高心灵的向往.

| Abstract: | The Mayor of Casterbridge is one of the most important"Wessex""Character And Environment"novels and it s hero's complex and changeable character is particularly a focus many critics tend to pay close attention to.The paper is to use the structuralism binary opposition analysis way to explain Henchard's multiple personality and his character's continual self-perfect and self-evolution from different aspects of beauty and ugliness,good and evil,brave advance and dejection,reason and passion and finally illustrate Henchard's pursuing and longing for beauty and human's sublime soul. |
