Abnormal Noise Analysis and Countermeasures for Stern Tube of "Dayuan Hu" Vessel

This paper presents a detailed research and necessary theoretical calculation in respect to the abnormal noise of the stern tube of Dayuanhu oil tanker. The intended purpose has been achieved by analyzing the main cause of the noise and proposing simple and effective measures for solving this problem. In doing so, an aspect of general characteristic is covered: the effects of hull deformation are to be considered in shafting alignment of large ships and shafting alignment is to comply with the calculations for reasonable alignment of shafting.
