| Abstract: | A new index for wheel/rail wear is given here-work consumption at contact points of wheel and rail provides evaluation level for wearing of wheel and rail as an important performance parameter when rolling stock is running on curves. And wearing index of wheel and rail is calculated for SS4 electric locomotives on curves of small radius using non-linear dynamic curve program, which proves theoretically the superior performance of concave surface to that of conical surface. |
