On the Essentials for Planning Urban Rail Transit Network

Based on urban rail transit network planning of Xiamen City, analyses and summary are made on the task essentials regarding city rail transit network planning, involving how to grasp the characteristics and structure of the city and its communication characteristics during background research. The paper further clarified the rail transit developing strategy from the viewpoint of hierarchy, scope and function orientation of the network, and analyzed the relationships among the research of network structure and city structure, national railways, operation management and planning risk. In the applicability study of network considerations should be taken in the conditions of engineering, resource sharing, overall framework, etc.
