Discussion of the Lightweighting and Low-cost Design of the Japanese Vehicle

The profit of vehicle manufacturer is closely re-lated to the vehicle cost. With the intensification of the market competition, lightweighting and low- cost design become the design targets of the vehicle manu-facturer. Combined with the weight and cost analysis of the Japanese vehicle, the allocation strategy of the weight and cost, and the main way to decrease the weight and cost of the parts are summarized. Exam-ple is given combined with studied vehicle.
