Abstract:The finite element method was employed to solve the N-S equation.Incorporated with the vibration equation,the vortex-induced vibration of the near-wall pipeline is studied by an Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE) algorithm.The Reynolds number based on the cylinder diameter and the undisturbed flow velocity range from 90 to 150.The numerical model has been validated by comparison with the experimental data in literature.The dynamic responses of the pipeline near a plane for gaps sizes from 0 to 8 times the diameter(d) of the pipeline were simulated and the vibration characteristics were studied attentively.The lift coefficient and drag coefficient were also studied at different gaps.The effect of gaps on vortex shedding frequency were also studied.The thickness of boundary layer is 0.8D.The motion of the cylinder was modeled by a spring-damper-mass system.
