A literary text is always created with some intention and the means by which the creator attempts to achieve that intention. If the translators identify the intention of the original with their own and wish to see it fulfilled in their translation, they need to recognize the ＂markers＂ employed in the source text and produce the same, or equivalent, ＂markers＂ in the target text. This essay scrutinizes the different translations of two falsified commandments in George Orwelrs timeless work Animal Farm in terms of the intention and means whereby it is achieved, and calls attention to the expressive function of the ＂markers＂ in the original, their identification and their adequate reproduction in the target text.
