The Saab 9-4X crossover concept is important as an example of the best current thinking on using bioethanol as an alternative fuel. Saab＇s turbocharged engines, that run as well on ethanol based E85 as gasoline, put the company at the forefront of the debate over using ethanol as a fuel for transport. At the Detroit Motor Show, the concept served as the introduction to General Motor＇s announcement that it has invested in a company that claims to have a process to make ethanol from industrial and agricultural waste at a cost of USD 1 （RMB 7.2） per gallon.
