Research on Development Status and Prospect of Straddle Monorail Transit

The government encourages the coordinated development of multiple urban rail systems,and the development trend of rail transit with medium and low traffic volume is obvious.As a medium volume rail system,it is necessary to research the way to develop straddle monorail transit in the future.This paper combed the development process of straddle monorail transit,defined the relevant concepts,summarized from advanced experience domestic and abroad,and took Chongqing as an example to carry out the current situation and development of monorail transit.The results show that,compared with other medium volume rail system,straddle monorail has advantages in terms of construction cost,energy conservation and environmental protection.The construction cost is 1/3~1/2 of metro system,and the noise value during operation is 10%~20%lower than steel wheel rail.Straddle monorail has great development space in China from different perspectives including national policies,urban development,multi urban rail transit systems development,and response to‘one belt,one road initiative’.Combined with new technologies,new opportunities and new missions,“intelligence and digitization”will be the future for straddle monorail transit.
