Study on Developing Strategy of Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Industry in Zhoushan Archipelago New Area

The shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry is the pillar industry of Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China. Under the background which the State Council has just approved the establishment of the national-level new area (Zhoushan Archipelago New Area) oriented towards marine economy, and at the beginning of China's 12th Five-Year Plan, the developing strategy, objectives and spatial distribution plan are proposed based on a SWOT analysis, with a detailed list of products with bright prospect, major construction projects and policy suggestions, which should be considered under the circumstances of domestic overcapacity as well as the international intense competition in the shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry.
