On Saussure and the Development of Structural Linguistics

De Saussure is honored as one of the founders of modern linguistics and Father of Structural-ism, whose structural approach to language engendered profound and extensive impact on modern linguis-tics and got developed and divergent mainly through the works of three significant linguistic schools, name-ly, the Prague School, the Copenhagen Linguistic Circle and the American Structuralists. These three schools flourished in different areas and realms of linguistics under their own leadership. The article provid-ed a brief introduction and comparison concerning de Saussure＇s structural theory of language and the three influential schools.
