On Weight Reduction of Automobile |

| Abstract: | The necessity and urgency to reduce automobile's weight are discussed. The requirements, effects and targets of weight reduction of automobiles are described. Three ways of weight reduction are analysed: design optimization , material alternative and technological innovation. Taking the piston and connecting- rod as examples, the methods to reduce the weight of automotive components are explained. |
