Abstract:The Hongxi Bridge in Wenzhou,Zhejiang Province is a twin-deck extradosed bridge.The bridge has two pylons,creating three spans of 150,265 and 150 m.The stay cables are fanned out in double cable planes.To suit the aggressive environment and particular structural characterisitics of the bridge,including the complicated wind conditions,high fundamental wind speeds and high-rise main piers,a pylon-girder-pier fixed connection is used to improve the integral rigidity and wind resistance of the bridge.The superstructure,consisting of two-cell prestressed concrete box girders with oblique webs,varies in depth from 4.5 m at the midspan to 9.2 m over the piers.The top of the box girders measures 15.25 m.The pylons are Y-shaped reinforced concrete structures with upper,intermediate and lower columns,rising 170.2 to 175.2 m at full height,and 42.0 m above the deck.The stay cables,which are formed of finished steel strands with nominal tensile strength of 1860 MPa,are anchored to the pylons via the saddles with individual tubes and anchored to the girders via wedges under the flanges.The foundation of each pylon incorporates 15,?2.5 m end-bearing piles and a rectangular pile cap.The abutments are gravity structure sopported on spread foundations.The pylons were constructed using climbing formwork,the prestressed concrete box girders were cast in situ in cantilevers using form travelers.The closure section was constructed with the assistance of lifting frames,before closing,2000 kN jacking and pushing force was applied at the closure gap.The spatial finite element model of the overall bridge was established by MIDAS Civil for static and dynamic analysis.The results demonstrate that the static and dynamic performance of all the components can meet the code requirements.
