Serious water gushing and mud outburst occurred during the construction of the super long Minyueshan highway tunnel with various adverse geological features which brought about serious collapses.A series of effective countermeasures were adopted in accordance with the detailed analyses and studies for the reasons of the occurrence of water gushing and mud outburst in the tunnel and the configuration of collapses,consolidation and strengthening of the surface,the collapse and the tunnel were carried out that helped to pass through the section with mud outburst and collapses effectively.The paper briefs the water gushing and mud outburst in the tunnel and corresponding comprehensive countermeasures.
