Abstract: | This paper gave an asymptotic elastic stress field near a blunt crack tip for an anisotropic material. It is found that the stress distribution is related to the radius of the crack tip curvature. The bluntness of the crack tip affects the stress states of all three fracture modes in the immediate vicinity of the crack tip. The usual sharp crack tip stress field is applicable for the region some far from the blunt crack tip. The sharp crack tip stress field for an anisotropic material and the blunt crack solution for an isotropic material can be deduced from the present paper. |
