| Abstract: | Type selection, determination of the main technical parameters and systematical configuration of tunnel boring machines is one of the top topics to be addressed by construction enterprises who shall build tunnels by tunnel boring machines. In the paper, the author, based on the preconditions of the tunnel construction by tunnel boring machines, makes some comments on the type selection of open-face tunnel boring machines and shielded tunnel boring machines. |
