The Pragmatic Information under the Micro-Structure in the Oxford Starter Chinese Dictionary

The Oxford Starter Chinese Dictionary is a dictionary for primary Chinese learners published by Oxford University Press in the year of 2000. There are mainly two parts.English-Chinese and Chinese-Eng- lish. It provides learners with considerable amount of information on a variety of structural levels. The pragmatic information it offers in different types is of special practical use to the new Chinese learners. Such pragmatic information in the dictionary will serve a meaningful reference for other Chinese-English dictionary editors as well. Of course this dictionary also needs to be improved in pragmatic information as- pect when being revised in the future.
