In the InnoTrans 2008 held during the climax of global financial crisis, many people believed that the recession of transportation industry would last several years, as railway sectors would have to stop signing new contracts and costly capital construction projects. It was true with some countries. However, the railway industries have been fully supported by the governments in some other countries during this economic downturn, the most obvious example is China ,where the construction of new railway lines is in full swing and large number of locomotives and rolling stock are purchased, by contrast to the cases in other countries where new railway projects are suspended, although not abandoned. In the next few years, therefore, billions of dofllars of investments are expected to be made in railway and mass transit sectors. By these lights, all the indexes reflected in the Inno- Trans2010 hit new records. This paper reviews the railway technologies and equipments exhibited in the Fair in detail.
