2009年长江干线完成货运量12．2亿吨，规模稳居世界内河第一。长江2010年货运量预计将达到13亿吨，其中．外贸运输量将达到4.5亿吨，港口集装箱吞吐量将达到1600万标箱。长江作为沟通我国东部沿海和西南腹地的运输大动脉，在国民经济中具有不可替代的作用。
