中西文化背景下的隐喻对比

隐喻一直以来都是学术界研究的热点问题,本文从中西文化对比的角度研究英汉隐喻。文章首先简单介绍了隐喻的基本特征;继而从语言与文化的关系出发讨论了隐喻与文化的关系。每个隐喻背后都蕴含着丰富而生动的文化内涵,如果不能清楚地了解语言背后的文化背景,就会造成文化冲突。人类文化的共性铸就了汉英隐喻中的相似之处,中西文化各自的特性又造成了他们之间的差异。跨文化交流过程中,不仅要了解英汉两种语言结构,理解隐喻本身的意思,更要深入学习隐喻背后深厚的文化内涵;只有这样才能准确理解其喻义,达到有效交流的目的。

Cultural Contrast of Chinese and English Metaphors

Metaphor has been a hot issue in the research field for a long time;this paper makes a contrast study of Chinese and English metaphors from the aspect of cultural comparison.Basic characteristics of metaphor are talked about in the first part,in which the author also mentions the history of metaphor study.The second part moves on to the relationship of metaphor and culture on the basis of the relationship between language and culture.Metaphor is not isolated;it has rather close relationship with culture.Every metaphor has got such and such cultural sense,rich and vivid.Only by knowing clear of the cultural background of the language can cultural shock be avoided.As human culture,Chinese culture and the English ones have some common parts,which lead to the similarities between Chinese and English metaphors.And the variety of human culture causes differences in Chinese and English metaphors.The paper gets to the conclusion that one should not only learn the language itself,know the literal meaning of metaphors,but also know the cultural background of the language and the cultural sense of metaphors during cross-cultural communication
