Surveys on Rodential Mites in Two Representative Parts of Shaanxi Province
Abstract:The present survey was carried out during 1958-1959 in HuanglongCounty, part of the North Shaanxi, where there is a so-called Keshandisease, and from September to December, in 1963, 1972 and 1973, in Chang-an County in the center of Shaanxi Province, where there was an epidemichemorrhagic fever. 1. The present paper records 62 species of rodential mites from 4suborders and 22 families. 2. Some of the dominant species of mites, such as Hirstionyssus shens-iensis and Hirstionyssus huanglangensis were found on Myospalax fontanieriiin Huanglong, and Haemolaelaps glasgowi, Eulaelaps shanghaiensis, Laelapspavlovskyi and Tricholaelaps myongssonathus were found on Apodemusagrarius and in its nest in Changan. 3. The field mouse, Myospalax fontanierii, is one of the dominantspecies of rodents in Huanglong. The field mouse, Apodemus agrarius, is thedominant species of rodents in Changan, and among the house mice thereare the Rattus flavipebtus flavipectus.
