Abstract:The seismic intensity of more than 40 percent of China''s land is equal to or above 7. As the construction of traffic infrastructures develops fast, more and more bridges are built across the highly seismic regions, or even the active fault zones. Unseating damage has become one of the most common and serious bridge damages for earthquake. Therefore, for the bridges across fault zones, unseating prevention must be designed based on the seismic analysis of the bridge structure. In this paper, we propose a three-level unseating prevention system for the simply supported beam bridges across fault zones, based on the Wangjiacun Bridge. The system consists of three parts: the support system, the restrainer system and the unseating prevention length system. We adopt a "three-level fortification" strategy to prevent unseating, which can be a good reference for the design of unseating prevention system for the simply supported beam bridges across highly seismic regions, especially fault zones.
