Abstract:When selecting a steel grade, a quenching medium or heat treating parameters for a given steel part, their applicability depends on whether the microstructures and properties at the specified position of the cross-section satisfy the specific application requirements. Based on steel hardenability elements, charts of equivalent cooling rates as well as object-oriented programming methods, a computerized method is developed. In addition, this paper has studied the prediction of mechanical properties and microstructures of the as-quenched parts. It is also studied that the prediction of ideal critical diameter and Jominy curve from chemical composition on the basis of ASTM A255.
