Study of the optimization of electrical turbo-compound system through computer simulation

Abstract:In order to optimize the turbo-compound system for getting the best fuel saving a computer simulation was made. The system was modeled precisely and running conditions of the components were examined. In the case of an electrical turbo-compound system, it is possible to keep the power turbine speed at good efficiency over a wide range of running conditions because the power turbine speed can be controlled independently from the engine speed.
