| Abstract: | Application of Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) to exterior body panels of automobiles is intended to meet the demand for weight reduction. There has, on the other hand, always been a strong demand for metal plating exterior body panels, which is especially true for the domestic truck market. However, metal plating on SMC with good adhesion and surface quality has not been possible with conventional technology. In order to meet these needs, the technique of metal plating on SMC by changing in In-Mold Coating was developed. |
